This book was written by Floriana Hall (author of six nonfiction and six inspirational poetry books) with the intention of helping children at an early age recognize and enjoy some of the simple pleasures in life. So much of the time, youngsters of today are exposed to technology in the form of television, computers, blackberries and various electronic games, when all they need is love, some attention (not too much). books, a few basic toys and imagination. Parents need to set a limit to the amount of time small children sit in front of the television set and only allow them to watch suitable programs. Be choosy about any type of electronic games which your children play, and never allow them to spend more than one hour each day at these activities. Years ago, when none of this equipment was available, children played outside in the fresh air and enjoyed games such as jump rope, jacks, tag, hopscotch, and picking berries in the summer; and sled riding, skiing, or building forts and snowmen in the winter. Babies were content with pans, stuffed animals and blocks. Children used their imagination in many forms, for instance, drawing and coloring, putting on plays, playing kick-the-can or hide and go seek. Now youngster s rooms are filled with all kinds of unnecessary paraphernalia which keeps them indoors more than outdoors. Fresh air and sunshine result in healthy children and healthy parents or guardians who supervise them while they play outdoors.
